Susan's practice is rooted in mindful body awareness as the foundation of all movement. She intends that when we offer our bodies something, we allow space to hear something back
We explore shapes, patterns, and pathways inspired by yoga, the Axis Syllabus, developmental and expressive movement, and the motion of everyday life. Healthy breathing techniques support our practice and intervals of rest allow time for integration. In movement and stillness, we cultivate a friendly, nonjudgmental, and kindly curious attitude towards ourselves and our surroundings.
Getting more of ourselves in contact with the ground enhances our whole body sense, our ability to orient ourselves in space. Curious, exploratory, interesting, slow, gentle, mindful, and non-painful movements have tremendous capacity to help us develop nuanced whole body communication. This translates to more ease, steadiness, and pleasure in the movements of daily life.
"I practice with the best instructor ever. Susan's style and manner are effective for nurturing well-being and relaxation and building skills in our movement practice. She creates a safe space for new challenges in strength building, flexibility and restorative postures. She understands our limits and she assists with modifications when necessary. I always come away knowing that our time together has helped to make me a healthier and happier woman."

"I’m 67 and taking up a new sport as challenging as diving was very daunting. When I submerged during my very first dive, panic took hold and my first instinct was to just bolt back up to the surface...My heart was about to explode, beating in a frenzy of anxiety. So, I closed my eyes, pictured your face, Susan, and chanted the mantra to myself, “ I know I’m breathing in, I know I’m breathing out ...”. After several moments I calmed down, and was able to complete the underwater lessons. I used the strategy for the first few minutes of each dive after that, using yoga to make the transition from land to being 100 feet underwater. I was so excited and proud of myself for accomplishing a week of diving. Now I look forward to my second diving holiday with pleasure and am so thankful that yoga saved the day!"
